Meet Assistant Treasurer: Donna Wilcox

Picture
For over a decade, one dedicated member of the Christ Child Society of the Quad Cities has embodied what it means to live out faith through service. Currently serving as Assistant Treasurer on the board, she manages in-kind donations and handles the essential task of picking up the organization’s mail, a behind-the-scenes role that keeps the heart of our mission beating.
When asked what inspired her to join the board, her response is simple yet powerful: “Acting on my faith to honor Christ’s love.” That guiding belief has shaped not only her commitment to the Christ Child Society but also her approach to life. She first heard about the organization ten years ago and knew it was a space where her desire to serve others could thrive.
“Camaraderie and sharing a common interest in service,” she says, is the most rewarding part of her board service. It’s that sense of community, along with her love of making layettes and attending events like the flower party, that keeps her involved year after year. Her advice to anyone considering joining Christ Child Society is heartfelt: “It’s a wonderful opportunity to help others.”
Donna’s passion for the mission is rooted in faith. “Generosity and kindness are reflections of God’s character,” she explains. “The Christ Child Society shows this in service to others.” One of her favorite ways to give back is by creating layettes, small but meaningful gifts that offer warmth and dignity to newborns in need.
Being part of the Quad Cities chapter has also brought spiritual growth. “It gives me a way to reflect love and care for my neighbor,” she shares. One of the greatest lessons she’s learned through her involvement is that “You get more than you give,” she said.
Looking ahead, she hopes to see the organization expand its membership and continue making a lasting impact. “I want more people to experience the joy of giving,” she says. She believes that in the next five years, Christ Child Society will continue to meet the needs of the community while staying true to its core mission.
Donna’s especially excited about sharing that mission with the next generation. It’s just one way she hopes to pass on the values of service and compassion. She was thrilled to experience the play, Miss Nelson Is Miss, with her grandchildren.
When not volunteering, she enjoys relaxing on the Lake of the Ozarks or riding motorcycles with her husband, Charlie. A member of Sacred Heart Parish in Moline, IL, she finds strength and inspiration in her family, including her children Kevin, Lori, Shannon, and Justin, and in those she’s served alongside, like Maryann Dockery Jackson.
When asked to describe Christ Child Society in just three words, Donna said, “Faith in action.” And truly, her story is a beautiful reflection of that phrase, serving others with love, purpose, and joy.
