For the past three years, Marilyn Urbaniak has dedicated her time and energy to the Christ Child Society, an organization committed to supporting women and babies in need. Now serving as a board member-at-large, she reflects on her journey with the organization and her hopes for its future. Her involvement with Christ Child Society began through her daughter, who introduced her to the group’s mission. “My daughter first told me about Christ Child Society, and I’ve been involved for about three years now,” she shared. “I was honored when Mary Anne asked me to join the board. It’s an opportunity to make a real difference.” As a board member at large, she plays a key role in shaping the organization's direction. “Being on the board means I get to help make decisions that will directly impact the women and babies we serve,” she explained. “That’s the most rewarding part — knowing that our efforts are truly helping others.” The organization’s impact drives her passion for Christ Child Society. “It is a good organization that helps many women and babies,” she said. This passion is reflected in her involvement with two projects incredibly close to her heart: the Layette program, which provides essential baby items to new mothers, and Playcrafters, a beloved event that brings members together in support of the cause. Her experience with Christ Child Society has been personally rewarding as well. “It’s made me realize how much the women we help appreciate the support,” she said. “It’s humbling to see how even small gestures can make a big difference.” When asked about her hopes for the organization's future, she wanted to see it grow. “I’d love to see more people get involved and help Christ Child Society reach even more women,” she said. “Over the next five years, I hope we continue to expand our programs and make an even greater impact.” Her advice for those considering joining is simple: “Christ Child Society is a good organization that helps many women and babies. You’ll be part of something meaningful.” Outside of volunteering, she enjoys walking her dog to relax and recharge. However, her inspiration from her service work continues to motivate her. “The gratitude of the women we help is what keeps me going,” she said with a smile. In three words, she sums up the Christ Child Society’s mission: Helping women and babies.
